Everyone enjoys a good story, don’t they?

Three local authors between them have something for everyone. Let Margaret Holbrook, Mark Henderson and Pamela Turton entertain you with stories and extracts from their range of traditional and contemporary writings.

Each of the authors will be reading from their work, for about 20 minutes each (with drinkies break) followed by a Q&A session. So get those questions ready! Mark is a natural storyteller and will read from his latest ‘Folktales of the Peak District’. Margaret has written several books of poems/stories; her latest is ‘Hobby Horses Will Dance’. Pamela has also published poetry and novels. She’ll be giving you a taster of her 4th novel, due out this August too.

Every Picture tells A Story – Get Writing

Why not join our fun sessions to get your creative mojo flowing? Starting end of September in Hadfield.

Local photographer, William Binns, and local teacher-writer, Pamela Turton, have extended their original workshop to a series of four sessions, using Bill’s brilliant photos as a starting-point and stimulus for creative writing.

You will build up a piece of writing using an image which inspires you and a fun activity as a starting point. The first selection will be ‘free-style’, followed by three more sessions which will focus on developing more specific forms of writing using images with themes.

When? Tuesday eves, 7-8.30 p.m. 29th Sept., 13th Oct., 20th Oct., 27th Oct.

Where? The Craft Barn Hadfield, SK13 1AR (near Hadfield Rail Station)

How much? £12 for 4 sessions (in advance for saving) £3.50 drop-in fee (to cover costs).
