Include food for your mind and spirit when you go shopping in New Mills this week. The Poetry Trail is on display around the town until 30th September. A pleasant Sunday walk perhaps, with lots more to see as the wonderful New Mills Festival draws to a close?
Following the very entertaining, successful Spoken Word Cabaret, (thanks to the organisers, great artists and gorgeous audience) poets who have poems displayed on the Poetry Trail (including Yours Truly) will gather to read their poems from the trail as well as some additional works.
“Look forward to scintillating readings and electrifying performances from some of the best poets in the northwest of England and beyond.”

This is promising to be a good event, with authors, poets, and musicians signed up already. WANTED: Visual Images – see below
If you’re interested in contributing, there’s a pre-event meeting next Thursday 8th
We’re inviting visual images e.g. drawings/paintings/sketches,photographs, cartoons etc. to put together for a slideshow at the event.
If you have an original piece of work you would like to be included, please bring along to the meeting on the 8th or email to email@example.com by 10th January. We’re hoping to get some photos suitable for a little Caption Competition
At the last meeting on Thursday, we discussed ideas for possible events to get the project up and running, and which had scope for a wide range of creative input from the group. Based on some material already produced/being developed by Nicola, Mark, Margaret and Pamela, we were able to outline a framework for a calendar of events to work on for 2015. The potential for ‘creatives/artists’ to collaborate with stories, poems, images, film, music, visual arts, dance, drama, comedy, performing arts (and?) is huge, only limited by resources/time. Of course, we have the challenge of getting creative about those too. Here are the suggested events – please ask questions, give feedback, share thoughts and ideas. Also possible venues.
1. Suggested date early January: Creative Fusion showcase/Open Mic.
2. Suggested date Last week February: Creative Fusion presents ‘The Snow Queen’
3. Suggested dates: Midsummer – Bankswood Inspire Festival: Festival date to be confirmed – Creative Fusion presents ‘Folklore’
4. Suggested date: Hallowe’en: Creative Fusion presents ‘The Riddle’
Our ‘Creative Fusion’ event will raise money for Life you choose, which is a local group for people with learning difficulties. The organisers are currently working towards the group becoming a charity, which will be open 5 days a week.
